A program assistant position is available at ASAP/After School Activities
Partnerships for a person who cares about kids and would like to be
involved in keeping them safe and stimulated in the afternoons--the most
dangerous time of the day for young people. Responsibilities include
helping to recruit,screen and place volunteers, maintaining relationships
with sites and assisting  the director of volunteer services in
evaluation. Additionally, the program assistant will work with the
president of ASAP in increasing options and oportunities for young people
from families with low incomes.

ASAP was launched in 2002 with the dual goals of developing a campaign to
increase after school enrichment activities for Philadelphia's kids and
disseminating information on after school programs so that parents,
caregivers and those working with young people could locate information
easily. To date, more than 12,000 kids have been served in 943 clubs in a
variety of 74 different activities. Chess, Scrabble, debate, financial
literacy (i.e.Common cent$)and dance are its major programs.
